I am an international educator with 14 years of experience in education and more than 25 years of experience programming. I am the K-12 STEAM Coordinator at St. Johnsbury Academy Jeju. I am interested in a role which will allow me to build or work with a high level robotics competition program and have a larger impact on the role of technology in a school.
This website has been built using hugo, markdown, and the Adritian Free Hugo Theme. It is hosted on Github, and the code can be found here. This is a modern toolset which demonstrates my ability to use and integrate modern tools which students will need to use and understand once they move on to their professional careers.
As an educator, I believe that every student has the ability to succeed when given the tools and equipment to do so. I structure my classes to maximize student flexibility on summative assessments, delivering nearly all of my assessments in non-AP courses through projects with extensive student agency and reflection at every step of the process. In AP Courses, my students consistently demonstrate mastery of the subject. Overall, 95% of my students pass the AP exams and 75% receive a 4 or a 5 (84% of my AP CSA students).
My experience as a programmer also allows me to contribute to schools outside of the classroom. In the three most recent schools I have worked at, I have built software solutions for them. In two of those cases, those tools are still in use today. My area knowledge as a teacher allows me to build software that is helpful and useful for schools.
About MeI have 14 Years of educational experience and more than 25 years of programming experience. My experience in international education covers K-12 and include AP Experience as well.
I have launched robotics competition teams at the MS and HS levels. Both of these teams experienced considerable success in their first year. The HS teams have continued at SJA and have expanded considerably in their second year. In addition to launching the teams, I have also hosted several significant tournaments on campus, which requires considerable logistics and planning.
More infoThe global average for AP CSA 4s and 5s is 46%. In my classes, the average is 84%. This is the result of high-quality instruction focused on building real life understanding of the Java programming language.
More InfoI have build three different point trackers for schools to use as part of their SW-PBIS systems or house points systems. These website provide a convenient means for teachers and students to award and track house points and add a fun twist to hour team competitions.
